About THE Forum
The
Teaching in Higher Education (THE) Forum showcases important developments in
the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning, professional
development and assessment. The conference focuses on the many ways that
the learning process is being transformed as we enter the new millennium.
As we utilize new technologies to create learning environments, we must focus
on the learning process and not on the technology in formulating our
strategies. We must not leave behind our skills of community
building in the classroom. We must recall that the fiber optic cable will
not miraculously transform tired and stale pedagogy.
At the heart of THE Forum are the
recognition of excellent teaching, dissemination of successful innovations, and
the exploration of critical issues pertaining to the use of technology in
higher education. Come, share with your colleagues, regionally and
nationally, what you are doing and learning as you
experiment with new ways to use technology in your courses, professional
development and assessment of student learning.
Presentations, demonstrations and/or
poster sessions should focus on strategies that change and enhance the teaching
and learning process, professional development and assessment. (See
suggested foci below.) Proposals will be reviewed and selected by a
review panel. Please note that conference organizers may approach
proposal writers to request changes in their sessions to better fit THE Forum
needs.
