Keeping the Touch in Technology 2003:

The Knowledge Enterprise : New Century Learning

Innovations in the teaching and learning process are occurring more rapidly than at any other time in higher education.  At its sixth annual meeting, the Teaching in Higher Education (THE) Forum focused on the dissemination of major pedagogical initiatives in the knowledge enterprise of the 21st century.  These groundbreaking explorations and initiatives have tremendous potential to impact teaching and learning everywhere.  As the horizons of learning expand, we, as faculty members, find ourselves more and more engaged in expanding the accessibility of intellectual capital.

We are contributing to, and learning from, the wealth of knowledge available at the touch of a fingertip.  We are, in essence, knowledge entrepreneurs, creating new, rich repositories of knowledge and information for students and other faculty.  In place of the traditional proprietary orientation of academia, sharing has become the lifeblood of this new knowledge enterprise.  This sharing conference has been the perfect vehicle for presenting and learning about the newest dimensions of knowledge delivery.  We will continue to showcase important developments in the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning, professional development, and assessment, all of which fit very well with this year's theme.

We hope that the articles collected in this first E-Proceedings edition will reflect the electric atmosphere created by our fellow knowledge entrepreneurs as they presented advances made and lessons learned from exploring the frontiers of teaching and learning.  We invite you to browse the site and learn from your colleagues.  If you would like to leave a comment, please feel free to do so in the comment section of the site.
